Le Eco 1S Review : Killer Premium looks Budget Phone and Faster Than iPhone 6s

The budget friendly phone Le Eco 1s from a Chinese Company has hit the Indian Market with a bang on 2nd Feb exclusively on Flipkart. The phone seems to have features which are way beyond than the price tag it comes for. The next flash sale of Le Eco 1s will be on 9th of February on Flipkart. The phone has generated considerable interest for offering great value for money for customers .

Design and Camera

Just like its older sibling, the LeEco Le 1S smartphone comes with an aluminium frame unibody design. It features a metallic back that sports a fingerprint sensor and Letv (former name of the company) branding. It also houses 13MP rear camera with LED flash.

The handset features a 5.5-inch IPS display with back-lit capacitive touch navigation keys. It also houses a 5MP front camera with the sensor array and speaker grille on top. The volume rocker and power buttons sit on the right, while the sim card tray is placed on the left edge.

The 3.5mm headset jack is placed at the top, while the micro-USB port along with the speaker is placed at the bottom.

At Rs 10,999, the LeEco 1S smartphone comes with an excellent design that is not only premium but sturdy. With 7.5mm-inch thickness, the smartphone is comfortable to hold and carry. The smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display with 1080x1920p display resolution at 401ppi.

Just like LeEco Le Max, the 1S comes with different colour modes such as vivid, Natural and soft to choose from. In our experience, the display of the smartphone offered vibrant colours with good level of brightness. It comes with good sunlight legibility with no pixilation, too.

Coming to the cameras, the smartphone comes with a 13MP rear camera with Samsung ISOCELL sensor for better image quality and blue glass infrared filter to control the amount of light that enters the camera. It also features a 5MP front camera that has a wide-angle (85 degrees) lens with an F2.0 aperture.

The camera app comes with basic features such as Slo-Mo and Panorama among others.

In terms of the quality, the images captured by the rear camera in direct sunlight came out pretty nice with decent level of detail, accurate colour reproduction and good contrast. Low-light and indoor shots were also good, but these had some level of noise and looked a little blurred. Riding the same boat, the front camera also shoots good quality selfies.

As far as videos are concerned, the rear camera can take 1080p Full HD videos and the quality of the videos with the LeEco 1S was really good.

Hardware and performance
The key specs of the phone include:

Memory: 32GB non-expandable OS: Android OS, v5.0 (Lollipop) with the EUI (Eco User Interface) skinning CPU: 2.2 GHz Helio X10 Turbo MTK 6795T octa-core processor GPU: PowerVR G6200 RAM: 3GB RAM Connectivity options: 4G, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, USB Type C

The LeEco 1S packs specifications that are typical to this budget segment of smartphones. In our time with the phone we did not experience any lag or stutter while opening and switching between apps or playing casual games.

The sound output through the phone’s speaker outlet offered decent sound quality. It also offers good call quality and signal reception, and we did not encounter problems while making calls even in areas where cell signals were relatively weak.

Also, we were able to play most popular video and audio file formats on the phone with ease. However, while locking to GPS, we did face problems time and again. We also witnessed heating issues during heavy usage that included playing games and watching videos.

The LeEco 1S smartphone comes with a fingerprint sensor, which was not that responsive and failed to unlock the LeEco 1S at times. The phone has a USB Type C connector so you’ll need to carry the cable along as this connector is not very common to find.

The smartphone comes with a 3,000mAh battery that delivered a day’s juice with 1-2 hours of phone calls, some casual game playing and internet browsing within this time period.

Verdict
There is no doubt that the LeEco 1S smartphone is one of the best affordable smartphones we have handled recently, as far as featuring an excellent form factor and display is concerned. At Rs 10,999, the company could have made it a better performer by using an enhanced chipset and CPU.

Meanwhile, LeEco has announced that it will now extend the cash back offer exclusively for the Axis Bank Credit and Debit cardholders onto its next flash sale on Flipkart on February 9. The company said that it received registrations of 6,05,000 on Flipkart for the 1st flash sale of Le 1s.
